It minimizes corneal damage through a small incision of approximately 2 mm.
A precise incision is made only within the necessary area to reduce the burden.
Only the tissue required for vision correction is selectively shaped.
* A thin, lens-shaped tissue (lenticule) created within the cornea.
Unnecessary tissue is removed to improve vision.
SMILE is a surgical technique that bypasses large incisions,
instead removing the lenticule through a microscopic 2mm opening.

Precision laser technology alone is not enough.
True excellence in SMILE is achieved when
clinical judgment and deep experience meet.
ZEISS, a global leader in optics, provides the cutting-edge systems that
support the precise surgical procedures at Apgujeong Eye Center.

Femtosecond laser with a curved contact surface
designed specifically for corneal structures.

An automated eye-tracking and fixation system
ensuring precise centering during surgery.
Based on extensive clinical experience,
we do our best to ensure safe and accurate surgery for every patient.
The procedure is performed under local anesthetic eye drops
and takes less than 5 minutes. Vision recovers relatively quickly right after surgery.

Step 01: Femtosecond Laser Irradiation
Corneal stroma correction using a femtosecond laser.

Step 02: 2mm Micro-incision
A minimal incision of approximately 2mm is made on the corneal surface.

Step 03: Lenticule Removal
Removal of the corneal stroma (lenticule) through the micro-incision.
Since no corneal flap is created, corneal structural stability is maintained,
making the surgery possible even for patients with high myopia.
Improvement of dry eye symptoms and light sensitivity (halos/glare).
Vision correction is possible with only a tiny incision, resulting in minimal pain
and allowing you to return to your daily routine the very next day.
By eliminating the need for a corneal flap, the risk of flap displacement or dislocation is minimized,
making it ideal for those with active lifestyles or high-intensity sports.
